This essay is on two future expectations that I have for myself. One of mine is be elected President during which time I will clean up our corrupt and immoral government. Another one is live to see the United States 300th anniversary. These are important expectations.
I think I can do a lot of good for this country. The extent to which politicians abuse their power is appalling. The sad part is that people today have given up on our government. This is one reason that the people who are in office stay there. People just vote for the incumbent because they don't care who runs. If I were President, I would change all of that. I would insure that the people who are in office stay honest. I would do this by not covering up anyone's wrong doing. I would release to the press about his or her's misdoings and would call for them to step down. I would creat a government agency to supervise the going-ons of politicians. While some might say that is an invasion of privacy, I say that it is even worse for them to get away with what they do. That is why I think I will be President. I will go to bat for the people and will not let illegal or immoral acts go unnoticed.
I hope to live to see this country's 300th birthday. With the advances in today's medical technology, I think I stand a good chance. However, I am concerned that this country will not exist when that time rolls around. The youth of today are not motivated to be interested in what lies ahead. They think only of themselves. Their attitude is that they're not going to be around so who cares? That, to me, is a wrong attitude. We should be concerned with the future of this planet. Chemicals are destroying the ecosystem in which we live. One way that this can be rectified, I think, is to approach students on their level. The Billy Joel song, We Didn't Start the Fire, is being praised because it lists important historical events and the students like it because it is in a form they are interested in. Perhaps this can be explored and students will learn. However, it may be too late to save this country. With ecological damage and lack of interest, we may be living in the last years of the United States of America. That is a sad thought.
Those are two of my expectations for my future. I pray that I will not be disappointed.
